ADM Crop Risk Services and WeatherBill, the pioneer in weather insurance and risk management, announced a partnership that allows ADM Crop Risk Services’ customers to supplement their existing crop insurance with WeatherBill’s Total Weather Insurance, the industry’s first full-season weather insurance. This partnership will enable U.S. growers to better manage risk and protect profits.
ADM Crop Risk Services offers farmers a broad array of products and services to assist them from “production to profitability.” Each year, weather is the leading cause of crop damage and the biggest threat to growers’ revenue and profitability. Through WeatherBill’s Total Weather Insurance, ADM Crop Risk Services adds a new risk management offering to help protect farmers against numerous, previously uninsurable weather perils, including:
- Drought throughout the growing season;
- Frequent rainfall during planting;
- Cold weather throughout the season;
- Heat stress during pollination;
- Killing freeze before harvest; and
- Frequent rains that can delay harvest.
“Our mission at ADM Crop Risk Services is to help protect farmers, their businesses, and their profitability,” said Gregory Mills, president of ADM Crop Risk Services. “WeatherBill’s Total Weather Insurance lets us take a huge leap forward in that respect by allowing our agents to augment our traditional crop insurance programs with a new kind of insurance policy that helps protect farm profits from the impact of bad weather.”
“ADM Crop Risk Services is committed to providing leading services and products that enable the U.S. agriculture industry to manage risk,” said David Friedberg, chief executive officer of WeatherBill. “ADM Crop Risk Services is one of the fastest-growing and most innovative federal crop insurance providers in the market. We are excited to work with them to provide agents and growers with the most extensive and innovative crop loss protection available.”
ADM Crop Risk Services’ agents and growers can assess the risk and financial impact of adverse weather by visiting www.weatherbill.com/admcrs and generating a free Weather Risk Report that calculates the weather-related risk for specific crops at their exact location. Driven by its sophisticated weather modeling technologies, WeatherBill’s system shows growers how Total Weather Insurance can help protect their profits using projections based on U.S. Department of Agriculture crop production forecasts, Risk Management Agency loss data, and weather history for their crop and location. Agents and growers can then choose a Total Weather Insurance plan created specifically for them that reflects the crops they want to cover, the yield they desire – even if it exceeds the farm’s established average production history – and current forecasts to insure projected profits for the upcoming 2011 season.
ADM Crop Risk Services will make WeatherBill’s Total Weather Insurance available through its network of crop insurance agents.
